Last Monday, Sister Webb and I spent the day playing kickball with the rest of the missionaries in our zone over in Bentonville. We didn't think about sunscreen or water (I know...not smart) so by the end of the day we were both red as lobsters and I was dehydrated. So that night when we got home we called Sister Shumway to see what we should do because I was really sick, and she said I needed to drink like three bottles of Gatorade and if we didn't have any, we could go to the store even though it was after our curfew. Sister Webb was sitting across from me going "YAY that sounds like so much fun!" Hahaha. So she drove us to the convenience store which was really scary because she hasn't driven a car in a month and kept having to verbally remind herself about how to drive. "Left turn. Ooh. What do I do at a left turn? Signal...look both ways...okay here we go. HERE WE GO." It's a miracle we made it there alive. Anyways, I just thought it was funny how low our standards are for an "adventure" as missionaries.

This week we got to meet with Becky, who had met with the missionaries twice before we got here. She is definitely a seeker of truth. She took a world religions class in college and feels that the religions she learned about there were created by man, not God. We told her that what it really boils down to is being able to know where we can look to know is something is true (Heavenly Father!) and how we'll know when we get our answer (how the Holy Ghost feels). She completely agreed with all of that and said that despite her negative feelings towards a lot of churches, she was more than willing to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it was true because she wants to be on the path God wants her on. She is amazing! Her mom and boyfriend are also investigating the church and their neighbor, Greg, is a member and comes with us to all their lessons so it's perfect. We are going to invite her to be baptized this week.

Sister Breaux came here on exchanges with me on Friday and we visited Renea, a less active member. She is one of the ones who still knows the church is true and knows she needs to come back, but is just struggling to turn those feelings into actions. She was in tears and kept saying that she felt so heavy and burdened down from not coming to church and that she wanted so badly to be the person that she used to be. We bore testimony of the power that the atonement has to give us a fresh start and let us be better than we were before. We pulled out a scripture for her to read in the Bible, and asked if she was comfortable reading out loud. She said she wanted to read it in her head first and then she would read it out loud. She looked down at the scriptures while we waited for her to begin reading. As she looked at it, she silently handed the book to me with tears streaming down her face.

Matthew 11

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I feel so privileged to be a messenger for Heavenly Father to His children. I have had so many experiences where I felt that He put into my mind exactly what I should say to someone, and it was exactly what they needed. I love being a missionary!
