I love this area!

We spent a lot of time with less active members this week. It seems that most of them have the same concerns. Either they don't want to wake up in the morning, or feel guilty because they're not living all of the commandments. It makes me sad because I know they won't be able to stop feeling guilty or be able to have the strength to better live the commandments until they first show up to church. It's like a vicious cycle. Most of those we teach are sincere and want to do the right thing, they just need to get up the motivation to actually do it.

We met many potential investigators this week, but one that stuck out to me was named Laura. We met her playing with her two young children outside her house. We introduced ourselves and she asked why we use the name "latter day saints". We explained it briefly to her and she just looked like she sincerely wanted to learn more. She said that this week was really busy for her, but asked if we had any literature we could give her to read until she had more free time. We left her with a Book of Mormon with our number in it, and when she took it she said "thank you so much. I will read this, because I want to be closer to God." It was just one of those instances where you can just feel the real intent oozing from their words. I never cease to be amazed at how many truth seekers are out there just waiting for us to talk to them.

On Saturday, we showed up a our investigator Donna's house, and she was in her backyard taking care of her animals. She showed us some orphaned baby bunnies she had gotten that she was trying to get a different rabbit to take care of. The mother had rejected the babies and they were dying of malnutrition. Sister Webb and I offered to say a prayer with her but she said "no, they're going to die, there's no point. You can do what you want." So Sister Webb and I said a prayer by ourselves while Donna prepared to clean out the cage. Well, we stopped by later that evening and one of the bunnies had survived! It was a miracle. Later, Donna said, "I have always wondered why God has kept me here on this earth so long, and now I know why. It was so I could meet you."

The harder we work, the more miracles we see. I love being a missionary!

Love, Sister Boll
