Berta is progressing very well! She came to church AGAIN this week. I wish we had Spanish translators for her, but I admire her diligence in coming to church every week even though she probably doesn't understand a whole lot. We taught her the Restoration this week, and it seemed like she understood most of it because she was asking questions and participating, but we are bringing Sister Kirk, the Spanish speaking member, to her lesson this week so we can really make sure she understands. We are going to invite her to be baptized on June 14.
Yesterday, MC and Lake, 2 less active Marshallese members who I have never met in my 5 months in this area, came to church! When I first got here, we would knock on their door at least once a week but they never answered. We eventually assumed they moved away and stopped going over there. We were so surprised to see them in church! I have no idea what prompted them to show up yesterday, but they did. We made an appointment to visit with them on Tuesday. Hopefully they will start coming regularly, maybe a third active family in the Marshallese meeting will convince President Shumway not to close our area just yet. Things are looking up!
