On Tuesday, we met with Brian and Jennifer, a younger married couple with a little boy. Jennifer has been praying about whether she should join the church, but said that she hasn't received a very clear answer yet. While we talked to her, she said "wait, I think I need to stop praying about it by myself and start praying about it as a family!" It was really cool to see her receive a little bit of personal revelation while we were there. We're excited to see them again and find out if anything has come out of their family prayers.
Then on Wednesday, we went on exchanges and I stayed here in Van Buren with our Sister Training Leader, Sister Pahl. I set up all our appointments and drove us around the area and filled Sister Pahl in on who everyone was. It was the most responsibility I've had since I've been here! But it was really fun and helped me feel a little more confident in my ability to function when I no longer have a trainer! Haha.
We got to watch all 4 sessions of general conference this weekend. It was so nice to relax a little bit! We watched one of the sessions with Kandee, our investigator who has a baptismal date for this month. It was such a great experience. She had her notepad and pen all ready to take notes and asked us some good questions. Apparently her old church taught her that "equally yoked" meant that interracial relationships were against God's will. But she had a really good experience and wanted to watch the rest of the sessions. During Elder Dube's talk, she paused it and said "That's so weird...I've heard this talk before. I heard those exact words in his accent running through my head the day you guys knocked on my door for the first time."
Conference was so great! One of my favorite quotes was from Elder Holland. I may butcher it because it's from memory, but he said "Even when we feel like a broken vessel, we need to remember that we are in the hands of the master potter." I know that Heavenly Father doesn't make mistakes. If we can learn to trust in Him completely, we need not be afraid of anything.
