Things are going awesome with our new companion, Sister Huskey. She has only been out as long as I have but is such an excellent teacher. She talks to everyone we see. It's a little bit cramped in our little apartment but mostly it's like a slumber party 24/7.

On Friday we had a ward variety show and it was a blast. We had 2 investigators come. Shirrick, who is an amazing singer and who is supposed to get baptized in November, and Mae, the nonmember wife of a guy in our ward. The turnout was great and so many people wanted to participate that the show lasted over 2 hours. Shirrick sang this Christian song called "Sanctuary" and got a standing ovation. I wish I could send the video I took. Then Sister Breaux and I did a piano and singing duet and I also played the piano for Elder Vest and Elder Phelps. We kind of threw it together because we didn't have that much time to practice but it was still really fun. The bishopric and other ward leaders did a parody of Gangnam style and Bishop Sweeney got a blue suit and everything. They went all out! The best part was when this one guy on the side of the stage tripped, whacked his head on a chair, and fell over. It was hilarious.

Brother Weeks came to church for the third week in a row! We visited him a few days ago and we were going to talk about the Restoration, but Sister Huskey asked him if he wanted to teach us instead, and make it kind of a role play. Brother Weeks served a mission way back when so he knows the story inside and out. Instead of us teaching him, he ended up testifying to us that Joseph Smith was really a prophet and that we can come closer to Heavenly Father by reading the Book of Mormon. It was kind of funny because he almost never reads from the Book of Mormon, so I think it was kind of a wake up call for him as he said it. But we felt the Spirit so strongly with him as he was able to remember how he felt when he was on his mission.

We had another cool experience last Monday. We had just gotten done teaching this guy, and it was almost 9:30 so we were heading home. As I walked up to the car I heard someone yell "Hey!" so I turned around, but I couldn't really see anything. It came from the direction of this lady named LaJeana's home, so I waved in that general direction and got in the car. It was weird because we'd talked to LaJeana before, but she was super not interested and wouldn't answer the door for us, but I told Sister Breaux that I thought she might have been calling after us. So we pulled back around to her apartment and when we got out she just opened her front door for us without saying anything. We went inside and she just started bawling. She told us about all the really hard stuff she's been going through and how when she saw us outside walking away she prayed "Heavenly Father, if you're there, just let them turn around." She truly believed that we had been sent to her to help her. It was awesome.

So I got to have an interview with President Shumway a little while ago. He said he was trying something new where he would talk to us and try to receive revelation for us in the form of a scripture passage. After I talked to him, he shared with me this scripture.

1 Verily I say unto you my friends, fear not, let your hearts be comforted; yea, rejoice evermore, and in everything give thanks;
2 Waiting patiently on the Lord, for your prayers have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded with this seal and testament—the Lord hath sworn and decreed that they shall be granted.
3 Therefore, he giveth this promise unto you, with an immutable covenant that they shall be fulfilled; and all things wherewith you have been afflicted shall work together for your good, and to my name’s glory, saith the Lord.If Heavenly Father literally answers every single prayer, how often are we missing our answer because we're looking in the wrong place or not simply looking hard enough?

One last thing: I just found out that Elder Bednar used to be stake president of my stake! I thought that was pretty cool.
