Kaye

Kaye is still progressing and seeing lots of miracles. She always talks about how she is scared to commit to something so quickly, but her actions say otherwise. She has been fighting for the chance to have her grandson, who was adopted into another family, come stay with her for a weekend. She technically doesn't have any kind of custody of him, but his mom agreed to let him come stay with Kaye for a few days. When she got there with her son, she noticed the Book of Mormon sitting on Kaye's coffee table and freaked out, telling Kaye that she was part of a cult and that the missionaries were deceiving her. She left to go to the store and Kaye was terrified that when she came back she would take the grandson and leave. But Kaye knew that she couldn't deny the blessings that have already come to her from reading the Book of Mormon, so she committed to herself that no matter what happened with her grandson's mom, she wouldn't back down. Well, the mom came back an hour or so later and apologized, and told Kaye that she respects her beliefs.

We visited with Kaye yesterday and she told us that story. She also told us that she's in 1 Nephi 20 and her Book of Mormon is filled with markings and questions. She offered us some hot chocolate and mentioned that she stopped drinking coffee. We hadn't talked to her about the Word of Wisdom yet, so out of curiosity I asked her what inspired her to give up coffee. She said, "well, I heard someone say y'all don't drink coffee so I decided to get a head start." She is so amazing! She still needs to quit smoking but we think that is just about the only thing keeping her from getting baptized.

Things are going great in St. Robert. The military families here are so humble and so willing to sacrifice everything for the Lord. I love it here!
