This last week was full of miracles! We have been struggling with our teaching pool because almost all of the investigators stopped communicating with us as soon as we got here. I guess most of them weren't really interested and took the shotgunning of the area (when both missionaries leave and two new ones come in together) as an opportunity to duck out. But this week we met a bunch of new people who are interested. One of those people is Rick. I'll tell the story in his own words that he used when he got up to bear his testimony in sacrament meeting yesterday.

"I just want to share MY testimony that I know that God works in our lives. When we go through trials or anything bad sometimes it seems like God is not there but he is. When we look back in five or ten years we can see how that trial was for our own good. We just have to stay close to God and put him first and we can see his hand in our lives. For example, some girls knocked on my door a few weeks ago. They were there to talk to my roommate Simon. They ask me 'Is Simon home?' and I say no, he's not home. They come back four or five times and I tell them no, he's not home, he's not home. Then one day they came over and Simon still wasn't home. But they asked me, 'Do you go to church?' and I say yes. They say 'we are teaching Simon about Jesus Christ. Do you want to learn too?' and I told them yes, I do. And then they invite me to the church and here I am. And it's funny because I'm Roman Catholic, but the most important thing to me is doing what God wants me to do, and he led me here. And in a year from now, who knows where I'll be?"

Obviously we made a huge mistake not talking to Rick the first time we met him. He is extremely prepared. It's funny, because we thought we were there for Simon, but Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways.
