Ice, snow, sleet, and more ice

This Friday, we got hit with a snow storm. A ton of people lost power and the roads were too bad to drive on so we did a lot of walking for a few days. Luckily, a lot of members reached out to us so we had plenty of food and a warm place to stay on Friday night when our heat was out. Sister Huskey and I had a lot of fun trudging around in the snow and breaking icicles off people's roofs. There were points when we would be walking and we would feel a few inches of solid ice under our feet and have no idea what was underneath that. At one point some of the ice broke and I dropped a good foot or so into a small ditch. But it was a blast. We walked 4 miles to a woman named Tammy's house to give the stop smoking workshop to her and her neighbor but she wasn't home! It was pretty sad. We were able to visit a few other people in the area though so it wasn't for nothing.

Kevin and Shaun Canova

Kevin and Shaun are two less active brothers who live together. Kevin is really nice to us but doesn't really listen to what we teach him, and Shaun basically hates the missionaries. He once served a mission so he knows what missionaries do and he doesn't want us to try to get him back to church so he avoids us as much as possible and is usually pretty rude to us. But we stop by occasionally to talk to Kevin and see how they are doing. Yesterday, we brought over something called the "celestial pyramid", which is an object lesson with legos that Sister Huskey's dad created. We started showing it to Kevin, and Shaun came over to see what we were doing. They both ended up listening intently to the lesson and really liked it. I have no idea why Shaun was so open this time but it was awesome! I don't know how long it will be before they ever come back to church but I feel like they've made a lot of progress.

We didn't get to visit a ton of people this week because we were walking so much, but we had some great lessons. Zone conference is tomorrow so we get to go to Tulsa!
