I've been a missionary for a month!

So, Friday was my month anniversary of being set apart as a missionary. Crazy, right?

This week was a lot less discouraging than last week. We taught SO many people who were so prepared to hear about the gospel. It was unbelievable.

One of them was Kandee, who I may have mentioned before. She was my first big rejection while tracting. When she first answered the door, she just shook her head and was like "Mormons?...yeah...no. Haha nope. No way." and started shutting the door on us. But Sister Breaux and I both stopped her and tried to figure out why she thought she was so against our church. Turns out she wasn't even totally sure who Mormons were, she just had had some bad experiences with other missionaries, either from our church or another one, and was hesitant to talk to us. After about 10 minutes we convinced her to let us come back and teach her.

When we came back last week, she was completely open to hearing our message and we taught her about Heavenly Father and eternal families. She loved it because she wasn't supposed to be able to have kids but she has four now. Then we taught her AGAIN a few days ago, and we thought it couldn't possibly be any better than last week but it was! Everything we taught just made sense to her and she kept saying how she knew the Godhead was three separate beings but all her pastors said she was wrong and made her confused. Every single thing we taught she was like "I was right! I knew it!" It was so awesome. Then when we were about to leave she started crying and said she was so happy she decided to let us in because we're the first people to not make her feel like she was dumb for having so many questions about the Bible. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. We're going to invite her to be baptized this week.

We had another cool experience this week though. We met with a man named Robert, who has been investigating the church for over three years now. But every time the missionaries start teaching him all these awful things happen to him. He's lost family members, and even had cancer. Since we started teaching him a few weeks ago he cracked a tooth that got infected, and has gout. He knows the church is true but is so hesitant to keep studying because he's afraid of what will happen to him and his family. He thinks he is cursed or something. We brought our zone leaders over to give him a priesthood blessing and one of the Elders said something really cool. He said "When you face this adversity, remember that you are among Joseph Smith, Job, and Jesus Christ. And what greater honor is there? I know that Heavenly Father is more powerful than anything else, so when Satan tries to shake my faith, I say 'Let's dance.'" He put it really well. We also pointed out to Robert that maybe it's not the missionaries coming over that cause his afflictions, maybe we are being sent to him to help him with the afflictions that Heavenly Father knows he will have to go through. We just want to get the rest of his family on board so we can teach them all together. But he is awesome. He has all this archaeological knowledge that he believes backs up the stories in the Book of Mormon. In fact, next preparation day he is going to take us and the Elders to this bluff shelter that he thinks was built during Book of Mormon times. We're excited!

This week has been awesome! I miss all of you though, and Emma looks SO mature and pretty without her braces on! They all look a couple years older to me, it's weird.

Love you all!
