I only have 26 minutes left on the computer so I'm rushing. I should have written this down before I got to the computer lab!
I made it through my first three days at the MTC. I don't know what everyone was thinking when they said the MTC period just flies by, they were LYING. It feels like I've been here for weeks. Don't get me wrong, I do love it here but I'm EXHAUSTED. As soon as you guys dropped me off, they had me put my luggage in my room and go straight to class. Since then it's been a spiritual whirlwind of classes, practice lessons with investigators, scripture study, and food. I say food because it's just about the only variety we get in our day, so everyone looks forward to mealtimes even though the food isn't even that good. I'm probably going to gain a ton of weight here.
I've been having a great time here. Even though the schedule is intense every minute is meaningful so I don't mind it. We've been focusing a lot on learning how to let the Spirit teach instead of doing the teaching ourselves. It's been difficult for me because even though I know how to pray to receive revelation, I'm not used to someone telling me to just immediately start speaking by the Spirit. It's a challenge, but I think I've gotten better at just opening my mouth and talking instead of trying to think too hard. I feel like most of my fears of public speaking are gone right now because of how often I've been forced to step out of my comfort zone!
My MTC companion is Sister Lofgran and she is AWESOME. We both have the same lame sense of humor so we laugh at all the jokes no one else thinks are funny. Yesterday we had the giggles for a good half hour right in the middle of class. Our disctrict is comprised of the two of us and six elders. Five of us are going to Tulsa, (plus a few elders going Spanish speaking who aren't in our district) and three are going to Saint Louis Missouri. I love my district, even though they are ALL little 18 year olds straight out of high school! Haha. We have three more roommates who are in a trio. They are going to Toronto Canada and they're really sweet.
So, yesterday was the first time we got mail. For some reason ALL our Dearelders got mixed up. We realized this because Elder Whetton, our district leader, brought me this letter that was addressed to him and was like, "uh...I...think this is for you..." Then we realized that we all had each other's mail. All the Elders were teasing each other about their girlfriends writing them. I ended up finding my mail, but I think I am missing part of a letter from Daddy. It was cut off.
Another funny thing that happened was that we were going to meet our branch president the other day and during personal study everyone was goofing off a little bit and when someone mentioned the branch president I yelled "quick! everyone look busy!" and the president was standing RIGHT there. It was really embarassing.
Tonight we get to teach an "investigator"! We've been preparing a lot and we're really nervous. But I'm excited. I'll let you know how it goes.
